As an agent of the Tennessee Missing Persons task force, Nikki Boyd is used to seeing a multitude of cases cross her desk. Specializing in the missing persons unit, driven by her personal past, Nikki’s latest case sends her on a search for a missing wife. With the woman’s husband dead, and a trail of men seeking her who’d do the woman harm, Nikki will have to unravel the case before someone else finds her victim. Even if that means turning the investigation on her best friend, Tyler… the man she harbors unrequited love for.

BOOK REVIEW | Dangerous Passage by Lisa Harris

Up until I’d read Vendetta, I was unfamiliar with Harris’ books. But it only took that one novel for me to be impressed. The style, characters and rapid pace won me over like nothing else had. Book one set up a story (about Nikki’s missing sister) that is meant to linger throughout the trilogy. While frustrating for a reader who wants answers, it’s this that keeps us up and flipping pages, all while being actively invested in this story and its characters. Wild Montana Skies by Susan May Warren – A Return to Warren’s Signature Style

This novel is a kind of restart for the Christy-award winning talents of Susan May Warren. If the accolades weren’t enough, the reader love of Warren’s pen proves she’s a rare talent whose stories never cease to excite, entertain, and enchant.

REVIEW | Nashville has been the best and worst of times for country crooner Benjamin King. His first record sold well, but his fledgling career since then demanded he take on a partnership role. The duo Montgomery King was formed as a bandage to his sinking passion. Then, some 13 years later, Ben returns to his Montana hometown and locks eyes with Kacey Fairing, the girl he never stopped loving.

Kacey is like a balm to his soul. Once engaged to marry his high school sweetheart, Ben’s arrival home again uncovers more than one secret about their past that shatters and heals them in more ways than one. Without Warning is a wonderful novel not to be underestimated or overlooked. Its brilliant writing coupled with its kick-butt heroine (and hero who had me at “Marine”) who is as capable of rescuing as she is of being rescued…

REVIEW: Katie Singleton’s personal and professional life is wrought with tragedy. But the one constant in her life is her work as an elite bodyguard at Elite Guardians. Her current client she happened upon quite by accident. Though he’s known for his string of popular gourmet restaurants, Daniel Matthews never expected to be the subject of a stalker. When Katie becomes involved in Daniel’s life after a suspected arsonist sets his restaurant ablaze, and the discovery of a body, Katie assists the former Marine in discovering who is behind this. With each new novel, Eason continues to get better. Always Watching is among her best.

As former law enforcement, Oliva knows how to investigate criminals even now as an owner of a private security firm. These skills serve her well when she has to step in on Wade’s case following the brutal beating of one of her operatives. Review: Journeying through Sarah Sundin’s books is like a quaint, never-want-to-leave trip back to yesteryear. Saying this may sound silly considering the novel’s settings are primarily based around World War II, but there’s a special kind of nostalgia that puts the reader in the exact same situation as the characters may be in. Whether that is safety or peril, we “feel” close to being there. This novel introduces us to Mary Stirling, a kind-hearted girl who enjoys living in the shadows where no spotlight can shine on her. As a secretary at a Boston naval base, Mary’s work is never done, because she pitches in behind-the-scenes on multiple projects. It’s this that re-introduces her to Jim Avery. Jim knew Mary back in high school, but hasn’t seen her in years, which is why running into her turns out to be one of the best surprises. Mary and Jim have both changed, and working together to capture a saboteur means they see each other frequently. With men fighting a war that shadows their horizon, Jim and Mary’s blossoming friendship might is soon tested…   Continue reading “Through Waters Deep by Sarah Sundin”

Synopsis: Marketing maven Kate Sherwood’s world is fast-paced, challenging, and always changing. The last thing she wants to do is slow down to a crawl at Rainbow’s End, a dilapidated resort in the Texas Hill Country. But she cannot deny her ailing grandmother’s request to visit the place where she and her deceased husband spent one glorious week (albeit fifty years ago). There Kate meets Greg Vange, the resort’s handyman. But there’s more to Greg than meets the eye–billions more, in fact, as he recently sold his successful software company and is at the resort in search of what’s next for his life.

Kate isn’t looking for romance, but she can’t deny the sparks of attraction that fly every time she and Greg are together. She even starts to see potential in the rundown resort. Could there be a future there? Or will Kate’s long-sought promotion take her back to the big city? – Goodreads Continue reading “At Bluebonnet Lake by Amanda Cabot”

Review: In the whisper of a prequel, Tremors this world of heroine Selah Chavez was set up in a dystopian world. One in which Seleh’s 18th Birth Remembrance changes her life forever. On the eve of her 18th year, Selah captures a Lander – the forbidden race that her kind are not to associate with, only to have her catch claimed by her brothers and take the stranger – Bohdi, away from her so they can impress their father. Review: Typical to what we’ve come to expect from the talents of Irene Hannon, her final novel in her latest (aka my favorite!) series is no let down. Yet, somehow it’s creatively new and different. It tells the story of grieving mother, Kate Marshal whose husband died three years ago and though she is operating under the assumption her four-year-old son died in the same boating accident as her husband, Keith’s body was never found. When a chance encounter in a busy shopping mall leads her to believe that her son is still alive, Kate employs the help of Phoenix, INC. detective Connor Sullivan in the hopes that she will finally have the answers that have plagued her for years. What neither one of them expected was the web of secrets they’d uncover. Continue reading “Deceived by Irene Hannon”

Review: In the suspense genre, there have been far too many stories to possibly pick out a favorite. Since more than one of these books often finds a place on the bookshelf, my opinion on a favorite suspense author wavers each time I read a new book from one of the five or so authors whose novels fall into this category and I regularly read. Lynette Eason’s follow up to her ongoing series has again thrown my “mental” rankings into turmoil. In it, we meet Dani Harding, a woman with an 11-year-old son and a husband, who is anything but loving. Instead he’s an abuser with a badge and a man who erases Dani’s cries for help by covering up any claims she makes to law enforcement. Dani finally gathers the courage to leave Kurt, only to learn that same day, Kurt has been killed. Assuming she’s finally safe, she returns in the hopes of rebuilding her life. Trouble again finds her when it becomes apparent someone is still out to do her harm – this leads her to Adam Buchanan, a former law enforcement agent now working with a private security firm… and someone with many secrets of his own.
