REVIEW | Change is just what Adam Jacobs needs. Luck hasn’t been kind to him, and Adam certainly has no time for God in his life. This leads him to a small bed and breakfast on Prince Edward Island. There he meets Caden Holt. On the outside, Caden seems to have it all together. She’s living her dream through her work as executive chef of Red Door Inn, and has a loving family supporting her. But underneath this Caden conceals a person looking for one final achievement, an accomplishment that would put the struggling inn on the map.

As with her debut (Revell) novel, Liz again captures a special kind of magic with Where Two Hearts Meet. The story is pleasant and the writing style suits my reading tastes beautifully. It’s an easy-going style that isn’t difficult to read nor have I ever felt as if I needed to “push” myself to flip the pages. The story is simply there (if this makes any sense), waiting to unfold without forcing itself on its reader. REVIEW | Ten years ago, the world became a darker place for Ethan DeLuca. Since that day, he’s been punishing himself and pursuing every opportunity to “rescue” everyone but himself. With his grandmother’s health in decline, he returns to his small hometown where he meets Cassidy McAdams. Beautiful and everything Ethan shouldn’t be wishing for, Cass too is hiding scars. (Something she hides by trying to reopen her grandfather’s camp.) Her past is covered in them, and yet despite her walls, Ethan walks into her life as the person she didn’t know she needed.

Broken hearts, souls and lives collide in their otherwise safe worlds. But what happens when danger lurks around the corner?  Continue reading “Write Me Home by Crystal Walton – Emotionally Complex Contemporary Romance”

REVIEW | Since it first released, I had every intention of reading Katie Ganshert’s latest novel. Her novel A Broken Kind of Beautiful lived up to its title and then some. Still, for whatever reason, it took the 2016 INSPYs before I actually picked up another of Katie’s amazing books. To my great pleasure, her latest novel is again, a study in what good fiction should be. Continue reading “The Art of Losing Yourself by Katie Ganshert – A Messy and Beautiful Coming-Of-Age Story”

Rating: 5 out of 5

Beckett Walker has spent his life, in some form or another, running away. During his mother’s illness, he struggled to face facts and deal with the severity of his tilted world head on. He left his small town of Maple Valley in pursuit of corporate law, leaving under the most complicated of circumstances. One of those complications is Kit Danby, the best-friend-turned-love-of-his-life. When feelings changed, Beckett left Kit behind for Boston as she left to pursue a life in London. But know both are unexpectedly back in Maple Valley with a second chance in front of them. But what will they make of it?

For anyone who has been searching for the kind of romantic comedy novel that challenges and delights, look no further than Melissa Tagg’s brand of happy. Inside her novels lies a place that’s as cozy as your favorite oversized sweater. The characters will envelop you in the comfort of a warm hug as will the setting and emotions that stem from that center. The third in Tagg’s popular Walker family saga follows Beckett Walker, and it does not disappoint. Continue reading “Keep Holding On by Melissa Tagg – Wit, Wisdom and Winsome Charm”

REVIEW | Recuperating from a traumatic event is all Dana wants out of her off-the-grid haven. An editor by trade, her refuge – a cabin left to her by her grandfather, is soon the target of vandalism. Furthermore, her life is disrupted by the arrival of Finn McGregor; a seasoned Army Ranger recovering from scars (both physical and emotional) of his own. Though she didn’t plan for it, before long Finn becomes the person she relies most on. Similarly, Dana in Finn’s life becomes the person who helps him open up and heal. But with two such different paths before them, their separate lives and the danger that lurks, what does fate have in store for them? REVIEW: Stars are finally aligning for Alexis Murphy. She has an adoring fiancé, Jeffrey, and with him, she’s planning a fairytale wedding with Grace Evangeline. All is made sweeter since Grace is married to Exi’s cousin, Devin, the guy who still affectionately calls her by the childhood nickname. Her otherwise ideal life hits a snag when Exi meets Bo Corrigan, the one man Devin distrusts most.

Bo is walking, breathing trouble. Grace sees more to him, but when he expresses interest in Exi, all Devin can see is an infuriating charmer out to break hearts. Bo is struggling internally with his lifestyle. He isn’t sure what he wants and questions everything: including his sketchy past and his infatuation with Exi. All of which could cost Bo a great deal more that he is willing to give. Continue reading “Told You Twice by Kristen Heitzmann – Emotionally Investing and Raw”

REVIEW: The Scottish adventures of best friends Vee and Mackenna draw to a close in Forever Doon, the final novel of the series. As the story opens, things pick up immediately where Shades of Doon (book three) left off. Vee is in Doon while Mackenna is stuck in contemporary Scotland without means of returning to the place she now thinks of as home. Vee believes her beloved Jamie is dead and gone leaving Doon’s queen solely responsible for the safety of their people. With the Brig o’ Doon destroyed (a feat orchestrated to protect their people), Mackenna and Duncan strive to keep those who managed to cross the bridge safe. But with an evil soul on the throne of Doon, their greatest battle is yet to come. Continue reading “Forever Doon by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon – The Final Journey to Doon”

REVIEW: Have you ever read a book you thought sounded like a charming bit of fluff? You know the kind. That was my initial reaction to Just One Summer. A novella collection brainstormed by four talented authors who are taking the indie world of publishing by storm. What I did not realize was just how fast and thoroughly I was going to fall head over heels in love with the four stories they created. There’s such a diverse world of emotions captured in this fleeting bit of joy. As a whole story, it works almost in sync with its counterparts despite it being able to pull individual sets prompts, each with their own voice. The overall plot is about four lifelong friends who are stepping out on their own for their first summer apart. Who do we meet? First is Joss, a girl tired of pretending everything is right in her family; Sydney is trying to find her independence after a bad relationship with a guy wanting her to follow her father’s idea of “perfect”; the homeschool graduate, Darby, who finds herself while working at a tattoo parlor along with some help from her boss, Lennon; and finally there is Avery, who has ghosts of her own to confront – even if it means visiting the grandfather she never wanted to know to do that. REVIEW: Some novels pull you in with an instantaneous “tug” that grabs hold of your reader’s heart, and refuses to let go long after a well-designed opening. Such was the case with Kristy Cambron’s marvelous gem of a novel. Beginning with the “end” and tumbling back three years prior to the prologue, I don’t think there is ever a dull moment in this novel. Before I step further into my thoughts of ‘Ringmaster,’ let me introduce you to the characters you’ll meet.   Continue reading “The Ringmaster’s Wife by Kristy Cambron – Atmospheric Jazz Under the Big Top”

REVIEW: Hours after I finished what is, the final novel in author Ronie Kendig’s Quiet Professional series, I’m sitting here, trying to process everything.
