“Smart, sassy and sensational, Jane of Austin is a classic in its own right; a book worthy of placing next to its Austen inspired tome.”

As an agent of the Tennessee Missing Persons task force, Nikki Boyd is used to seeing a multitude of cases cross her desk. Specializing in the missing persons unit, driven by her personal past, Nikki’s latest case sends her on a search for a missing wife. With the woman’s husband dead, and a trail of men seeking her who’d do the woman harm, Nikki will have to unravel the case before someone else finds her victim. Even if that means turning the investigation on her best friend, Tyler… the man she harbors unrequited love for.

BOOK REVIEW | Dangerous Passage by Lisa Harris

Up until I’d read Vendetta, I was unfamiliar with Harris’ books. But it only took that one novel for me to be impressed. The style, characters and rapid pace won me over like nothing else had. Book one set up a story (about Nikki’s missing sister) that is meant to linger throughout the trilogy. While frustrating for a reader who wants answers, it’s this that keeps us up and flipping pages, all while being actively invested in this story and its characters. REVIEW | Change is just what Adam Jacobs needs. Luck hasn’t been kind to him, and Adam certainly has no time for God in his life. This leads him to a small bed and breakfast on Prince Edward Island. There he meets Caden Holt. On the outside, Caden seems to have it all together. She’s living her dream through her work as executive chef of Red Door Inn, and has a loving family supporting her. But underneath this Caden conceals a person looking for one final achievement, an accomplishment that would put the struggling inn on the map.

As with her debut (Revell) novel, Liz again captures a special kind of magic with Where Two Hearts Meet. The story is pleasant and the writing style suits my reading tastes beautifully. It’s an easy-going style that isn’t difficult to read nor have I ever felt as if I needed to “push” myself to flip the pages. The story is simply there (if this makes any sense), waiting to unfold without forcing itself on its reader. Beckett Walker has spent his life, in some form or another, running away. During his mother’s illness, he struggled to face facts and deal with the severity of his tilted world head on. He left his small town of Maple Valley in pursuit of corporate law, leaving under the most complicated of circumstances. One of those complications is Kit Danby, the best-friend-turned-love-of-his-life. When feelings changed, Beckett left Kit behind for Boston as she left to pursue a life in London. But know both are unexpectedly back in Maple Valley with a second chance in front of them. But what will they make of it?

For anyone who has been searching for the kind of romantic comedy novel that challenges and delights, look no further than Melissa Tagg’s brand of happy. Inside her novels lies a place that’s as cozy as your favorite oversized sweater. The characters will envelop you in the comfort of a warm hug as will the setting and emotions that stem from that center. The third in Tagg’s popular Walker family saga follows Beckett Walker, and it does not disappoint. Continue reading “Keep Holding On by Melissa Tagg – Wit, Wisdom and Winsome Charm”

REVIEW | Recuperating from a traumatic event is all Dana wants out of her off-the-grid haven. An editor by trade, her refuge – a cabin left to her by her grandfather, is soon the target of vandalism. Furthermore, her life is disrupted by the arrival of Finn McGregor; a seasoned Army Ranger recovering from scars (both physical and emotional) of his own. …LIKE NEVER BEFORE is another fresh and inspiring story; it’s traditional without conforming, full of fantastic and snappy dialogue, and genuine in its pursuit of heart-tugging and pure love.

If you’re a fan of contemporary romantic-comedies, there is no story better to become blissfully lost in than one with Melissa Tagg’s name proudly streaming across its cover (especially when its as darling as Like Never Before). If you’re a fan of inspirational stories (with romance) then picking up this novel is a must. REVIEW: It seems only yesterday I was having all the swoony gushing thoughts (and would later review) for the cover art Until I Found You sported. (All of which was most likely chronicled in one of my “Cover Candy” posts.) It is then impossibly difficult to believe that Someone Like You is Victoria Bylin’s third novel with Bethany House. Charming in the sweetest of ways, the story waiting to be discovered inside its pages is one of hope, a bit of adversity, love, and working in the laughs, there’s plenty of unexpected chaos. Before I get into a few more details of the books quirks, here’s a more detailed look at the story. Continue reading “Someone Like You by Victoria Bylin”

REVIEW: From the moment I saw the title for this piece of YA lit, I was hooked. It’s rare that a YA novel sticks with me as this novel’s premise did. In my experience of this genre, I’d never before run across this idea which is why Alexandra’s second novel (at least by this non de plume) intrigued so much. The reason for this is the story, which follows 17-year-old Tamsen. Tam isn’t like most girls her age. Instead of giggling with her girlfriends or preparing for senior year, she is burying her husband. She married young and was only married a matter of weeks before her beloved Noah’s heart stopped. Suddenly her forever was nevermore. Feeling without a purpose, Tam moves back to her father’s house where she is expected to go back to mundane life by finishing school, but with such a dark cloud over her, will anything ever feel normal again?
