REVIEW | On what should be the happiest day of her life, Lucy Lovett cannot remember a thing. She wakes in a strange place on the floor of a Portland restaurant confused about how she got there – in a wedding gown, no less! Her solution is to call Zac Callahan, the one man she does remember most vividly. But their wedding day isn’t for another several months, which means something she can’t remember has happened. Angry, Zac wants nothing to do with Lucy. But the mystery becomes, why? As Lucy tries to return home – to Summer Harbor, Maine, she finds no one is eager to welcome her back.

A woman who can’t forget the man she loves. A man who wishes he could forget.

Though reading this novel was at the top of my 2016 “must read” list, it somehow slipped through that leaning TBR and escaped the challenge. When its succeeding novel, Just a Kiss, released, I picked this beauty up in hopes I could speed read it, and discovered bliss. Prior to this I’d not read a contemporary novel for far too long. As I closed the final page, I reveled in the joy that it was. The story flowed easily and each flip of the page drew me further and further into the lives of this couple.

BOOK REVIEW | Just a Kiss by Denise Hunter – A Marine, a Best Friend and A Kiss

Suffice to say, if you’re a fan of Denise’s earlier works, you’re going to adore this darling romantic-comedy. With her signature style, she effortlessly combines humor and heartfelt romance that looks underneath the surface. The Goodbye Bride is a story you root for the reunited couple to finally find happy ever after, but also one you’re sorry to say goodbye to.

Synopsis: Following a concussion, Lucy Lovett can’t remember the last seven months of her life. She doesn’t remember leaving her fiancé Zac Callahan weeks before their wedding or moving to Portland, Maine. And she sure doesn’t remember getting engaged to another man. All she remembers is loving Zac more than life itself.

It’s taken Zac months to move on after Lucy left him with no explanation. He’s thrown himself into his family’s farm and his restaurant business in Summer Harbor. Now Lucy’s back, vulnerable, homeless, and still in love with him. She needs his help putting the pieces together, but letting her back into his life is a risk—and the stakes are high. If he follows his heart he’ll win back the love of his life. But if her memory returns he’ll lose her all over again. – Goodreads
